Get The Look: Kristen Does Seasonless Layers
I feel like I feature outfits similar to this one all the time — but that’s because it has one of my favorite combinations: dress, cardigan, and belt. It is really hard to go wrong with such simple, easy elements. Indiana Adams from Adored Austin proves time and time again that this laid-back mix works wonders: You just have to be creative. Need some tips on making this look unique? Try these:
* You don’t have to wear boots: try flats, heels, or even sneakers.
* Bright or patterned tights add flair and show personality. Try We Love Colors (they even have plus size tights!).
* Layer, layer, layer. Substitute a hoodie for your basic cardigan, or throw on a utility jacket. Wear a thermal or blouse under your dress. The beauty of this simple combo is the depth! Add texture.
Kristen chose a spring basic, a sweet floral dress, which is fitting for an ultra-fem Rebecca Taylor show. A long cardigan keeps things comfortable, and a bright orange belt is playful and fun. Basic black tights (similar, but cheaper, version here) and riding boots finish things off. Simple black studs keep the attention on the floral. Kristen stuck with simple hair and sweet makeup; to get her look try full lashes, a fresh face, and a berry lip stain. I own the Covergirl one shown here and I love it. It stays put all day, just keep applying balm to keep things smooth. The total for this outfit (including the lip stain) is $141.00.
What do you think? Would you wear this look? Is this simple combo a staple in your closet? Do you have any requests for future Get The Look features? I’d love to hear from you!
